It was five fifty nine and john was asleep it was six o'clock and john was awake His alarm was sounding and he peered up and sighed It was far too early and he was too tired He had an hour till work to wash, shower and pee And if he had time to eat some brekky Yet none of those things were nearly as deep as the want inside him for another minutes sleep He crawled out of bed and turned on the light His eyelids closed up because it was to bright He went to the bathroom and turned on the shower Lifted the toilet seat and drained his bladder He slurped to the shower and let out a scould For the water was com- -ing out freezing cold He turned up the heat and began to shower He had to hurry he had just an hour He went to the cupboard and picked out a shirt He decided on trousers rather than a skirt He put on his trousers and did up the fly Put on his shoes and knotted his tie He picked up his left shoe and looked for the right But he couldn't find it it was out of sight He opened the door and left his flat And then put his keys under the mat
